In a recent talk with Autocar, BMW’s Head of Marketing, Ian Robertson, stated that the joint-venture the German company is currently involved in with Toyota, already saw some important advancements.
The most impressive and interesting discoveries were in the field of electric vehicles, where the joined research allowed the two giants to make some big steps forward.
“We’ve been genuinely impressed by the speed and quality of the learnings. The teams are working very well together. We are making some big steps, especially in battery performance and efficiency. We are now looking at how we can use the learnings together, because there’s no question they will make electric cars far more attractive,” said Robertson.
After all, what did you expect when Germans joined forces with Japanese? However, that’s not all. Interesting developments have been recorded in hydrogen fuel cell development but in this case the problem is the infrastructure, not the technology.
The rumored sports car was also mentioned but Ian said only that it was “being worked on, but still too far off to be talked about”.
