It seems like 4,083 of the involved vehicles have been manufactured in China by the BMW-Brilliance joint-venture. Out of the total of over 25,000 units, most will be 3 Series and 5 Series models but others too, including: 125i, X1, X3 and Z4 model variations.

The problem seems to be a defective intake camshaft that could cause a drop in power braking assist. All cars affected use the N20 engines found on the 320i, 328i, 520i and 528i models.

Starting with Oct 1, BMW and other manufacturers on the Chinese market, upgraded the vehicle warranty offered so that it includes the right to obtain repairs, a replacement vehicle or a refund front the automaker in case of defective cars.
