This year, Rolls-Royce turns 110 and BMW wants to celebrate it in style. And what auto gathering has more style than the world famous Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este?
The 2014 edition will mark the 85th time the most beautiful cars in the world gather for an exclusive viewing and the 110th anniversary of the Spirit of Ecstasy brand, from 23rd to 25th May as part of the tradition-swathed Classic Weekend held on the shores of Lake Como.
The event will see around 50 select vehicles taking part in the usual beauty contest, in parallel with the Concorso d’Eleganza Design Award for concept cars and prototypes.
Since Rolls-Royce will be a special guest, a riveting exhibition in the rotunda at Villa Erba will be dedicated to the Spirit of Ecstasy, the winged radiator figurine that has been the image of the company since 1911. A presentation of select rarities from the Rolls-Royce history will also take place, featuring automobiles from various eras, showcasing the “striving for perfection” approach its founders had in mind when they decided to start the company.
