BMW Teases Us with Video of Mysterious Upcoming Model

Just as July was going through its last hours, BMW Deutschland published an interesting teaser on their YouTube account that shows a car going pretty fast through Munich, allowing us only to hear its engine but not take a look at its design.

The whole point the teaser was to get us hooked and waiting for a reveal that is supposedly going to happen on August 4. The problem is, it’s a bit tricky to figure out what hides in the 42 seconds here at hand.

Named ‘Revolution in the streets’ the video shows only the front left wheel of the car that seems remarkably similar to the one of an i3. The problem is, so far, the i3 doesn’t have a petrol engine available (to power the wheels directly) and the sound of a turbine in the back cannot be missed out on.

So, could it be a more ‘hardcore’ i3? We doubt it. That’s because the EV was designed to be used as a city car, not a racer. Sure, it has that breathtaking torque available from the get go but that’s not enough, not even with the rear-wheel drive setup it has.

What else could it be? That’s definitely an i3 front wheel but, once again, fitting it with a turbocharged petrol engine would be counterproductive, given the specific purpose for which the car was developed in the first place.

Another guess would be the i3 Coupe, a 2-door version of the current model that would get rid of the couch-style ones at the back. While this could be the most accurate guess, it being fitted with a petrol engine would still be a long shot. Even in plug-in hybrid guise.

We guess we’ll just have to wait and see. What do you think it is?
