BMW Teases Special Edition Bang & Olufsen Individual 6 Series

The Special Edition business must be really profitable over at BMW. Otherwise, why would the German car maker offer so many limited-run models in such a short period of time.

Just the other day we were writing about the 30th Anniversary M5 and before that about the Horse Edition models available only for China. Today we’re telling you about a new limited-run version of the 6 Series Gran Coupe and M6 Gran Coupe, developed in collaboration with Bang & Olufsen.

The details are scarce at the moment but, apparently, the two companies joined hands to create 110 special cars, through the Individual range, that will be wearing exclusive Bang & Olufsen details and hardware.

At the moment, neither the Danish company or BMW didn’t spill the beans about various details but we have a couple of photos that might shine a glimpse into what the ‘special’ cars could be fitted with.

As far as we can tell, they’ll be available with a two-tone interior, dressed in fine-grain Merino leather with an Opal White and Black finish as well as an Alcantara headliner in Anthracite and Black Piano dash trims. On the outside, the only color available will be Sophisto Grey Metallic.

Of course, Bang & Olufsen signets will go all around and the customers will probably also get a set of BeoPlay H6 headphones too with their cars, that costs €400.

Bang & Olufsen claims that acousticians spend more than 400 hours perfecting the sound in every single one of the 16 loudspeakers fitted to the cars to achieve the sound you hear when listening to one of their systems. This way, they are trying to justify the $3,700 price tag their offering has on the 6 Series Gran Coupe and M6 Gran Coupe in the US. In Germany, that price goes up to €4,950 ($6,737).

Even so, don’t think that you’ll be able to get such a limite-drun car for less than $100,000. If you go for the M6 model, expect it to be well over $120,000.
