The Bavarian group just signed a partnership with SOLARWATT, one of Germany's leading providers of photovoltaic solutions for everyone (from solar modules to intelligent systems for commercial use).

With this partnership, BMW is hoping to bring photovoltaic charging solutions for its future i clients. Working with Solarwatt should bring the i3 and i8 owners the chance to buy so-called CARPORT Systems, a garage that uses innovative glass-glass modules to obtain electric energy from sunlight.

This way, i customers will be offered solutions for all aspects of electric mobility. Furthermore, BMW started collaborating with other important players on the photovoltaic market (like Schneider Electric and The Mobility House) to make sure that, by the time of the release of the i3 and i8, their customers will have sustainable and convenient solutions for home garage charging.

“Cooperating with the leading carmaker and visionary supplier of electric vehicles and EV-related mobility services shows that our new systems offer practical solutions which will play an important role in future energy supply, " said Detlef Neuhaus, CEO of SOLARWATT GmbH.
