Currently leading their class in the 2014 TUDOR United Sports Car Championship, BMW Team RLL is heading to the Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca feeling extremely confident.
Round 4 of the season will take place there and the team, drivers and Z4 GTLM cars are already preparing for the race that is set to unravel on Sunday, May 4. At the moment, due to the third consecutive podium this season, all 4 drivers are amongst the top 5 in the current rankings.

Bill Auberlen and Andy Priaulx are the current leaders in the driver’s standings while Edwards and Muller are just 6 points behind, on fourth place. Even so, there is still a lot of hard work to be put into so that at the end of the season, the team led by Bobby Rahal can claim the top spot on the podium.

This year, the Laguna Seca race will see both GTLM and Prototype cars racing together for two hours, on the 2.238-mile, 11-turn circuit. Over the years (the first race for Team RLL on this track was in 2009) BMW managed two second place finishes back in 2010 and 2011.

“We have been in a position to win at Laguna Seca on several occasions, once losing it on the last lap and I think we have a good chance this year. We may not have the best pace for qualifying but we have several things in our favor for this round,” said Bobby Rahal, Team Principal.

“The Z4 GTLM is a more developed car than it was last year. Unlike our main competitors, we have lots of setup and race data from last year and should be fast out of the transporter. We have proven reliability. The performance of the car in race configuration has been very strong and Laguna Seca has a lot of fast corners that work in our favor,” he added.

The green flag will be raised on Sunday at 5:45 ET and it will be covered on Fox Sports 1 starting at 5:30 ET.
