It seems like this year's American Le Mans Series will be decided on the last race, set to take place at Road Atlanta on Saturday, October 19th. That's because Dirk Muller managed to cross the finish line 4th this weekend at the race that took place on the Virginia International Raceway circuit.
"We knew it would be tough from the very beginning, but then with all that yellow [flags], it came down to a sprint race at the end. So that’s how I drove; it was hard, tough racing and I made my move on the next-to-last lap in the hairpin. That was the only chance I had, so I took it," said Dirk after the race.

Now, the German driver is 16 points behind the leaders and can still catch up, depending on what happens in the last race. In the other BMW Z4 GTE, the no. 55 car, Bill Auberlen and Maxime Martin finished 5th after a troublesome race.

At one point Auberlen's car had to be pitted because the left-side door hinge failed and could've developed into a dangerous situation. When Maxime Martin swapped seats with Bill, he re-entered the race on the 10th position and managed to win 5 over, to cross the line in 5th place.

“The starts are always tough, but BMW takes care of us in the handling department, and we’re just too slow in the straights. So I got ambushed, and after the door hinge broke the team battled beautifully back up to fifth from two laps down, and I think that’s a darn good day from where we might have been,” said Bill after the race.
