BMW Motorrad announces their latest piece of GPS navigation for motorcycles (and more), rather uninspiredly named "Navigator Adventure". However, if you're interested more in what a GPS navigator can do than whether its name is cool or not, this might be what you were waiting for.
One of the cool things about the BMW Navigator Adventure is that if comes with a lifetime of free map and software updates, thus making this GPS unit a worthy partner throughout the years.
Given the fact that the BMW Navigator Adventure is a multi-purpose device, we salute the dual-battery operation: it can work with AA batteries for up to 22 hours, while it's internal rechargeable batteries grant 16 hours of use.
The BMW Navigator Adventure sports a 4-inch touchscreen display and a customizable user-friendly GUI for easy usage. Waypoints, tracks and geocaches can be stored in the calendar, so that the activities can be reproduced later, and the MicroSD card slot expands all the possibilities with the addition of supplemental maps and data.
A generic mount is supplied with the unit, and model-specific mounts are also available as options. The BMW Navigator Adventure will fit in the Navigator IV on all BMW bikes, except the new R 1200 GS, the K 1600 GT and the K 1600 GTL, which have their own mounts. No price has been announced, but we'll find thins info soon.
