BMW Supermini Rendering

It will be quite a while before BMW's new lineup of front-drive shapes up into something we can understand. The UKL1 platform which will be used by the 1 Series GT and new MINI Cooper could spawn as many as 20 new cars.
This will reportedly incude the BMW CAT (Compact Active Tourer), FAST (Family Activity Sports Tourer, a car that will step in right below the X1), the JOY (a 2-door version of the 1 Series) and the MINI MAT (Multi Activity Transporter).

Since the MINI Cooper is technically a supermini classed vehicle, BMW is likely to offer a superman of its own, one which has its more serious design language and engineering philosophy.

Audi has had a lot of success with its first supermini, the A1. This was built on the same platform as the VW Polo, but the lack of a suitable platform has stopped Mercedes-Benz and BMW from making a rival of their own.

Mercedes' solution will reportedly be based on the Renault Clio, but we're glad to report BMW's is all-German.

Graphics manipulator Theophilus Chin has created this rendering of a possible BMW supermini based in part on the Active Tourer Concept. There's no denying it looks better than any upmarket supermini on offer right now, but we'll have to wait for the production model to come out before passing judgement.

Mihnea's favorite cars have already been built, the so-called modern classics from the '80s and '90s. He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
