It was pretty clear the moment the current Mercedes-Benz S-Class came out that BMW’s new 7 Series had its work cut out. The battle would be fought on all levels but for the blue and white roundel car, things are never easy.
That’s because along exquisite driving dynamics, the BMW flagship also needs to keep up in terms of luxury and technology. With the new car, the Bavarians showed not only they can keep up but also take things further.

In this regard, it’s vital to remind the Individual range. This is a special program offered to BMW customers that allows them access to the best paints and materials in the world for their cars.

For example, the paints use thousands of pigments that offer the car's exterior a special look that changes depending on the light source. Go inside and you’ll be greeted by Merino leather which is not your regular upholstery because obtaining it demands a couple of particular processes to begin with.

The Merino leather is obtained only from special breeds of cattle and it’s free from scaring and/or other blemishes. It’s not just the material used that counts, but the way it is put together as well.

The contrasting stitching is hand sewn while the piping is also hand made. Overall, there are over 30 square meters (323 square feet) of leather used for the interior and this includes the Alcantara roof lining.

Yes, it’s all very impressive and we’ll leave you to learn more about it in the video below. Before you do that, we also want to mention the Individual Manufaktur range that takes things to a whole new level. That’s because it actually allows the customer to use whichever material he/she wants for the interior and the color combination of his/her choice, even if they are not in the catalog.
