BMW Sauber Sign New Sponsor FxPro

BMW Sauber have unveiled a brand new sponsor for the upcoming season in Formula 1. Following the withdrawal of Swiss bank Credit Suisse as the team's sponsor for 2009, the Hinwil-based outfit has secured a new partnership with leading forex broker FxPro (specializing in currency pairs, stocks, futures and precious metals).

A statement from BMW Sauber confirmed the news earlier today, but did not mention the duration of the sponsorship deal between the two parties. Several information were otherwise disclosed, including the fact that company's brand will be visible on BMW Sauber F1.09's front wing and side mirrors. Additional areas where one might see the FxPro logos will be on drivers' helmets and equipment, team’s clothing, trucks and pit equipment.

“In Formula One we see an ideal platform and in BMW the perfect partner to collaborate with at a global level, and at the same time present ourselves in a perfect environment. Internationalism, dynamism and high-tech are attributes of Formula One that seem tailor-made to match FxPro,” said Ilya Holeu, Marketing Manager of FxPro.

BMW's Motorsport Director Mario Theissen was pleased to announce the new partner, especially since it comes in times of economic regression that saw many of the existing F1 sponsors leave the sport (or at least cut back on their programmes).

“We are delighted about our new collaboration with FxPro. Particularly in economically challenging times such as the present, it is a great achievement for our BMW Sauber F1 Team and for Formula One to have gained another strong partner,” said Theissen.

The FxPro trade name is owned by EuroOrient Securities and Financial Services Ltd.
