On a year-to-date basis, deliveries went up by 7 percent to a grand total of 1,184,170 units, nearly 80,000 more than in the first 7 months of last year. Out of the bunch, more than a million cars were wearing the BMW roundel.

“We are pleased to see the excellent sales results of the first half-year continuing into July,” said Ian Robertson, Member of the Board of Management BMW AG, Sales and Marketing BMW. “Our focus is on ensuring our sales remain balanced worldwide and we are confident that our strong vehicle line-up will enable us to achieve this.”

“The success of our new vehicles such as the BMW X4, which went on sale in July, demonstrates that we are providing our customers with what they want. We are confident that our positive sales momentum will continue, ensuring we will sell more than two million cars this year with a clear focus on profitable growth,” he added.

Going over the brands separately, BMW brand vehicles posted an 8.4 percent growth last month to 139,399 units, adding up to a grand total of 1,025,747 so far this year. On a year-to-date basis, the growth was of 10 percent compared to last year’s 932,823 units sold by the time 7 months passed.

The 3 Series remains the top selling model, despite having a bunch of its plate stolen by the new 4 Series models. 271,720 3ers were sold this year, 6.2 percent more than in 2013. The 5 Series range came up behind it with 223,587 units (7.4 percent increase).

As far as continent distribution goes, Europe still accounts for most of the cars sold by the Germans, even though sales haven’t gone up by too much. A grand total of 513,707 units were sold on the old continent, a 2.8 percent increase compared to last year.

Second place went to Asia with 373,594 BMW and MINI brand vehicles sold so far, a 17.2 percent increase compared to July 2013. Of course, China posted the biggest growth and demand, 261,919 vehicles going to the communist country alone so far, a 21.8 percent increase.
