Overall, in March 2013, the BMW Group sold 191,269 vehicles, registering an increase of 3 percent breaking the previous record set in 2012 when 185,741 units were delivered to BMW aficionados all over the world.

For the first three months of the year, the totals also entered record breaking territory. During January, February and March the Bavarian-based Group sold 448,200 units, a 5.3 percent increase over 2012 when by the same time only 425,543 cars were sold.

Going over each brand owned by the BMW Group, BMW registered an all-time high with 159,195 vehicles sold, whilst MINI came in second with a total of 31,763 units delivered. BMW Motorrad also sold better than last year and reached 24,732 vehicles sold this year, a 1.5 percent increase over last year.

The most profitable markets were the US and Chinese ones. The US market recorded a 4.3% increase over the same 3-month period in 2012, reaching 78,957 units. Mainland China was also on the rise, reaching a total of 86,070 units sold this year, making for a 7.6% increase.

Other Asian markets such as Japan and South Korea reported solid gains in the first three months of the year. Japan, for example, grew by 7.2% whilst South Korea received 16.9 percent more cars than in the same 3 months of 2012.
