This video is a great proof for how brutal can the BMW S1000RR be when pushed hard. And what better way to test acceleration than race a Yamaha R1 on a no-speed-limit German highway.
Both bikes are stock and have standard exhausts. The BMW however is a full-option bike, but the extras are clearly not the main reason for being able to accelerate so fast.
To get the best idea on just what throttling really hard aboard a 2012 BMW S1000RR is like, enjoy the 2:55 moment: the R1 darts ahead, full throttle and all, and the BMW catches up with a rather effortless and elegant move.
And even more than catching up, please notice the speed difference between the two bikes as the German motorcycle passes the Japanese one. Now, if the guys in the Porsche Panamera would have played the same game, things could have been pretty interesting.
Germany is really cool for having a lot of no-limit highway sectors, isn't it?
