As expected, BMW has chosen the German bike show Intermot to introduce the 2015 model year S1000RR superbike. The upgrades machine has received for the new season are still shrouded in mystery, as no clear, relevant spy shots have made it in the media, but minor aesthetic revisions and some tweaking are of course expected, with no major modifications.
Even more, Heiner Faust, BMW Motorrad Head of Sales and Marketing says that the German bike fair will also host the launch of two other world premieres, the S1000XR crossover most likely being one of them. The other one may be rumored S1000F… or one of the new smaller-displacement bikes manufactured in India, though there have been no rumors from this segment of the Indian market for quite some time.

It looks like BMW is saving some of the news for the EICMA show in Milan, Italy, in early November: “We will be presenting no less than five models to the public in the course of the next few months. As many as three new BMW Motorrad models see their world premiere at the international motorcycle trade fair INTERMOT at the beginning of October. In addition to the new models, BMW Motorrad also presents its new rider equipment collection for the upcoming season at the trade fair in Cologne. Two more new models will be presented to the public for the first time two weeks later at the international motorcycle trade fair EICMA in Milan,” the BMW official says.

On a higher level, the month of August has brought another historic milestone for BMW Motorrad, as it’s the first time when the Bavarian manufacturer has sold more than 90,000 in the first 8 months of a year. The same Heiner Faust says that 90,226 motorcycles and maxi scooters have been world worldwide through the end of August, representing a 7.6% growth over the figures recorded in the same period of 2013 (83,890).

The retail figures for the month of August are slightly worse than the 2013 ones, with BMW selling 7,587 units in August 2014, a 1.6% de crease from the 7,708 sold in the same month last year. If the overall trend lasts, we might see BMW achieving another landmark in sales, as the 115,215 units sold in 2013 around the world may soon become an ex-record.
