BMW's Tower and Museum in Munich Celebrate 40 Years of Existence

It was May 18 1973 when BMW moved into the new BMW Group Headquarters building in Munich and since then, in its 40 years of existence, the buildings became icons of architectural history and a permanent addition to the city's skyline.

The office block, nicknamed the "Four-Cylinder" was recently voted one of the 15 most spectacular corporate head offices, recognizing the importance of the building for both Munich and Bavaria.

BMW recently released a leaflet with interesting facts about the BMW Headquarters and Museum, discussing interesting facts about them as well as taking the reader on a pleasurable ride throughout their history.

Furthermore, an interesting photo gallery was also released, with pictures taken at various moments along the timeline of the "Four-Cylinder". The construction of the whole park took only 2 years, from 1970 to 1972, including the interiors and offices.

With a height of 99.5 meters (326 ft) and a useful area of approximately 53,000 square meters (63,387 sq. yards) the Tower became one of the biggest such building in Germany.

The Museum on the other hand, has a total exhibition space of 5,000 sq meters (5,979 sq. yards), a total of 25 rooms and was designed by famous German architect Prof. Karl Schwanzer.
