The launch of the new BMW M6 Gran Coupe in the USA came with a couple of surprises, including some tracks around the new Circuit of the Americas and a new iPhone app.
You might say: there are plenty of iPhone apps, we don't care. Well, you might care about this one. It's dubbed M Power and, at first, it seems destined only for BMW M cars and their drivers.
The app allows you to record your track days and compare the results with your friends or even your other attempts around the same circuit. However, it's not limited to timing your performance. No, it has many other features.
This one has access to the vehicle's sensors and it will show you, if you desire, the throttle position, braking and engine speed and add all sorts of useful information onto maps of various circuits you're going around.
If you're worrying that the map you're on or you're going to race on is not charted yet, don't worry. The M Power app will draw it as you race on it and will keep it for future analysis.
Sharing the results is easy and doable through e-mail, Twitter or even Facebook. The new app will be launched in the iTunes stores later this summer.
