It's been a good year for BMW. First, the sales went up by quite a lot and now, the engineers' hard work is paying off in more than one direction. After winning the 2013 International Engine of the Year award for the N13 engine, the N20 unit wins best in its category.
For those of you that don't go by codes usually, the N20 unit is a 2-liter, 4-cylinder engine that has different power settings, depending on the model it's fitted on, developing either 184 HP and 270 Nm (199 lb-ft) of torque, either 245 HP and 350 Nm (258 lb-ft) of torque.

The latter version is the one that celebrates its second award this year. Currently, you can find it on the E89 Z4 sDrive28i model, E84 X1 xDrive28i, F25 X3 xDrive28i, F20 1 Series 128i, F30 3 Series 328i and F10 5 Series 528i models.

Ever since the competition started back in 1999, BMW won 60 prizes, being the most successful manufacturer present at the International Engine of the Year Awards.
