Even though Germany and the USA are the strongest markets for BMW Motorrad, it's an Italian dealership that gets the prize for the most motorcycles and maxi scooters sold in 2015. Almost 500 dealerships were monitored from around 1,100 worldwide.
The BMW Roma dealership in the Italian capital city saw a record number of motorcycles registered over the past year. No less than 1,347 new bikes went towards final customers and got their number plates, with the total number of two-wheeled vehicles sold being even greater thanks to consignments.
All in all, BMW Roma moved 1,271 motorcycles and 197 maxi scooters in 2015, but it's the new vehicles that count towards the final figures. Even so, with around 136,495 motorcycles and maxi scooters sold worldwide by BMW, having a single dealer in around 500 accounting for roughly one percent of the global sales is a very neat feature.
Learning about a German or a US dealer atop of the sales charts would not have been as surprising. The Italian motorcycle market has showed signs of strengthening over the past years, and even local manufacturer Ducati could read these signs between the lines of their last two annual reports.
Around 70% of the machines sold by BMW Motorrad Roma in 2015 were boxer-powered Rs, showing once more how important this family is for the Bavarian manufacturer.
