BMW Rider Wins German Stunt Riding Contest

The ‘German Open’ stunt riding contest held this past weekend at Hockenheimring ended with a success for BMW’s rider Chris Pfeiffer, who shocked the audience and finished first overall in a competition that gathered Europe’s top stunt riding athletes.

There were 36 riders from 12 countries entering the contest, but Pfeiffer managed to leave them all behind at a significant par. He was enthusiastic about the German Open from the beginning, as he was about to meet all the stars that were also present in February at the indoor world championship.

Therefore, Pfeiffer took it as a challenge and gave what was best of him. "Especially some of the lesser known names rode extremely well. This sport is developing at a fascinating pace," said Pfeiffer after the contest.

The final saw only ten riders to show what they are made of in just two runs. Unfortunately, during the first run, it started to rain, so a slippery surface became a dangerous obstacle in the way of drifts and stoppies. However, the 39-year-old German managed to handle his bike better than his opponents.

The second run started with five riders only, on a dried ground. Pfeiffer ended the second and final run on the first place, but he still remained modest in the statement for the press: "I had some shaky moments and really needed to dig deep. I still managed to win, although it wasn´t my very best riding," he said.

The past weekend’s event marked the debut of the stunt riding in Germany. Pfeiffer hopes that it develops into "something big". The contest at Hockenheimring was almost an unofficial European Championship, having all those top riders showing up and with the stunt riding legend AC Farias.
