The 1-Series Coupe will be missed, as one of the best looking cars from its generation. Rumor has it that BMW is moving this car to the 2-Series name to make room for an M2 coupe and MPV and front-wheel drive in the 1-Series range.
Even before BMW released the 1-Series M Coupe, we liked the top-of-the-range 135i, which was unashamedly a car for people who like to drive. Now, BMW has created an even better driver’s car, with more power than before. Think of it as a way to fight off the Porsche Cayman and Boxster a little while longer.
So, what’s the 135is all about? Well, the N55 3.0-liter engine under the bonnet now makes 320 horsepower, which is 20 hp more than in the normal 135i. The car also gets a sports exhaust, a revised suspension and new engine cooling system that comes with an auxiliary radiator.
Safety systems now include a Dynamic Traction Control (DTC) function to the Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), which cuts in much later letting you have more fun. Instead of an actual diff, the 135is comes with an electronic rear brake management system.
