So what’s there to look at, beyond marketing? Well, the M Performance catalogue for the 2 Series Convertible is comprised of new side skirts with the M Performance logo on them, new strips on the sides of the car and kidney grilles up front, all of them in gloss black.

Carbon fiber mirror caps are also included alongside a new rear diffuser for the bumper and new 19” wheels made of lightweight alloy, available in two different guises: 405 M and 624 M. The latter choice allows you to pick between two different finishes: glossy or matte black.

The aural experience is also important, especially in a convertible. Therefore, the M Performance range offers a new stainless steel exhaust with chromed tailpipe tips and M logos. You can also choose the carbon fiber tips alternative if it suits your style better.

Inside, carbon fiber trims decorate the ambience alongside plenty of Alcantara combined with blue stitching. You can also get LED doorsill plates that are plug and play and work with batteries, being perfect for retrofit enthusiasts as they don’t need cables to work.

Extra performance with the BMW M Performance Power Kit

The BMW M PPK for the 2 Series Convertible range is limited to the 220d that can be taken up from 190 HP to 204 HP. Therefore, the sprint to 100 km/h (62 mph) takes 0.3 seconds less, doing it in 7.1 seconds now.

In order to increase the power output, a new ECU map is installed alongside a bigger intercooler to help cool down the extra air needed for the additional oomph.

You can also get a limited-slip differential on the rear axle, just like on the 2 Series Coupe but you have to be prepared to pay for it. To top it all off you can now also get lighter brake rotors that help reduce the sprung mass while on the track, therefore improving the car’s dynamic capabilities.
