We've talked about the G30 so much that we practically feel like we know everything about it. Yet BMW also took the time to release a teaser video on YouTube, just to let us know something big is about to happen.

BMW has been cranking out front-wheel drive cars ever since the 2 Series MPV came out. But this isn't that; it's the company going back to its roots, making something aggressive and powerful. Heck, it might even be the swan song of the 4.4-liter V8 engine.

That being said, the teaser feels like a stereotypical advert, almost as if BMW is confusing Wall Street brokers with its real customers. Come on Bavaria, don't you know brokers like Porsches and Ferraris? Anyway, there's stocks, a rowboat, driving on empty streets and cool urban design. Isn't that the moving roof that inspired the old GINA concept?

The only tangible parts of the car are the taillights and the availability of a remote control parking system, just like with the 7 Series.

The platform is called CLAR, and it's already given birth to the BMW flagship. It's got aluminum and all that carbon goodness carried over from the i8. The engines are pretty well known too, the B-series of 4-, 6- and 8-cylinder units. There are a few really crazy ones, like the quad-turbo diesel that's going into the new M550d.

Even the M5 is set to undergo so major changes, as all-wheel drive should help it deliver around 600 horsepower to the road. We'll probably not see that one until the Detroit Auto Show, but Paris will likely be the host of the G31 5 Series Touring, not just the sedan.
