BMW Recalling 32,000 Vehicles Due to Fire Risk

BMW has announced a recall for a total of five model lines including five models belonging to the 2008-2011 model years due to a fire hazard. The list of affected vehicles includes the 5-Series, 5-Series Gran Turismo, 7-Series, X5 and X6 fitted with eight- or twelve- cylinder engines.

The circuit board for the electric auxiliary water pump on the aforementioned vehicle could overheat and cause the pump to smoulder. BMW has recorded 102 cases of failure so far ,with two of them leading to engine compartment fires.

The recall is shceduled to debut this month, with dealers set to repalce the auxiliary water pump free of charge. You can contact BMW at 1-800-525-7417 or the National Hoghway Traffic Safety Administration at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153).
