Besides looking the part, this MY ‘81 R100RS is also equipped with countless state-of-the-art components that should help it perform like a gem.
It goes without saying the moto masters over at Valencia’s Bolt Motor Co. aren't messing around. The Spanish workshop prides itself on a surreal portfolio that includes some of the sexiest custom two-wheelers you’ll ever come across. Let’s dive in for a thorough analysis of one such undertaking, shall we?

The donor bike for this incredible venture was a 1981 model from BMW Motorrad’s R100RS lineup. Bavaria’s beast is powered by an air-cooled boxer-twin engine with a massive displacement of 980 cc and two valves per cylinder. At approximately 7,250 revs, the air-cooled engine is perfectly capable of summoning up to 70 untamed ponies, while a solid torque output of 56 pound-feet (76 Nm) will be supplied at 5,500 rpm.

This unholy force is channeled by a five-speed transmission to the rear 18-inch wheel via a shaft final drive. Ultimately, the whole ordeal leads to a respectable top speed of 121 mph (196 kph), while the R100RS’ quarter mile time is rated at just 13.9 seconds.

Adrián Campos’ BMC crew kicked things off by using modern components to treat the bike’s aging brakes to a comprehensive makeover. As soon as fresh brake rotors, calipers and lines were installed, Bolt Motor went about gracing the front end with new handlebars from Renthal’s catalogue, as well as an aftermarket LED headlight to keep it classy. The latter is hugged tightly by a bespoke housing that’s been fabricated in-house.

At the rear end, you will find a neat license plate holder and a vintage-style rainproof leather saddle upholstered by Tapizados Llop’s experts. Furthermore, the machine’s stock fuel tank wears BMW’s iconic M-Power pinstripes with pride.

To give this R100RS a unique personality, the team proceeded to craft a selection of custom modules, such as a menacing exhaust system, a tiny front fender, and tasty rear-mounted footpegs. Last but not least, the boxer-twin mill received a complete overhaul, as did the creature’s electrical items.

Oh, and of course, the snowflake hoops were enveloped in all-terrain rubber to achieve a scrambler aesthetic. All things considered, this bad boy does a wonderful job of showcasing Bolt Motor’s abilities.
