I'm not a big fan of large cruisers but BMW's new 2017 K1600B bagger recently unveiled in America makes for an exception. It really looks to be a right choice for long runs and is packed with technology.
The new K1600B is based on the same chassis as the rest of the K16 range while borrowing design cues from the Concept 101 concept study that was presented at the Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este at t he beginning of 2015.

The massive front end features a three-piece headlight unit and smoothly integrates the adjustable windshield and angular fairings, all flowing to the rea to create a nice teardrop shape.

Speaking of the rear, here you get hard-shell cases with integrated angular LED lights, while underneath there are two massive polished exhausts. The cases come with slimmer covers but deeper bodies for easy luggage loading, while the rear mudguard got designed to fold upwards and allow easier rear wheel removal.

Power comes from the well-known almost flat-mounted BMW Motorrad inline-six engine that provides 160 horsepower and is commanded through a fly-by-wire throttle. More tech includes BMW's electronically controlled Dynamic ESA suspension.

This can be put in either Road or Cruise mode, where the first adapts the damping in an instant to meed road conditions and offer the highest level of performance, while the latter is more about a soft and comfortable ride.

The gearbox can be had with the optional reverse assist to make it easy to maneuver in tight spaces. More options include the Shift Assistant Pro that works both for up- and downshifts, along with many other touring-oriented bits and bobs.

No price has been specified at the moment of writing this piece, but do keep close for more when BMW Motorrad will release the full details on the new K1600B.
