BMW Presents Refined 2017 K 1600 GTL at EICMA

The previous BMW K 1600 GTL was already a great luxury touring machine, but the 2017 model seems to be even better, starting with its looks, ergonomics and ending with performance.

You can say the new K 1600 GTL has a more striking design thanks to its revised shapes. The side trim sections have been redesigned from the enlarged and more efficient slipstream deflectors downwards, for example, and have been drawn backwards for improved wind and weather protection. There are also wind deflectors to provide more effective protection for the rider’s hands.

The two mirrors are also newly styled as well, having enlarged mirror areas with an aspherical section for a further enhanced view of traffic behind. The foot and storage compartment on the left and right in the lower area of the engine have also been redesigned.

To make things easier for the rider, the new touring machine is now fitted with a standard reverse assist, which can be activated from the left handlebar. Simply push a button and the bike will slowly crawl in reverse so you can easily maneuver the beast in tight spaces.

The extensive standard equipment list includes ABS Pro, Dynamic Traction Control, Xenon headlights, grip and seat heating, multi-controller, three riding modes, cruise control, and backrest-fitted topcase.

More neat things can be had through new and carried over optional equipment like comfortable passenger footboards, HP sport muffler, crash bar, adaptive turning lights, LED daytime running lights, keyless start, Hill Start Control, forged wheels and more.

Power is provided by the same inline-six engine that develops 160 hp and 175 Nm of twist. However, it now comes with new catalytic converters and modified ECU to be Euro 4 emission regulations compatible.

Last but not least, the 2017 BMW K 1600 GTL will be available in three new color schemes - Lightwhite non-metallic, Thundergrey metallic and Ebony metallic/Blackstorm metallic.
