BMW Posts New Highs in October Sales, Gets Closer to 2 Million Mark

As you probably already heard, BMW wants to break past the 2 million cars sold mark this year and is doing everything in its power to achieve that ambitious goal. The numbers are in for October and things seem right on track, the German group selling 1,714,197 vehicles so far this year. That’s just a part of the story, though.
Global sales went up 11.1 percent in October, raising to a grand total of 184,297 cars. On a year-to-date basis, the growth was of 7 percent since in the first 10 months of 2013 BMW sold only 1,602,020 units.

“We are seeing good sales development across the model range and all sales regions have recorded positive growth in October. This record month means we are well on track to achieve our target of selling more than two million vehicles by the end of the year,
” Ian Robertson, Member of the Board of Management of BMW AG responsible for Sales and Marketing BMW.

BMW brand cars up to all-time high

When it comes to each individual brand, BMW actually recorded the best ever sales for its blue and white roundel cars. In total, the BMW brand sales went up 10.8 percent to break the record set last year during the same period. In total, 155,120 vehicles were sold in October while on a year-to-date basis, another record was broken, 1,474,632 cars being delivered to customers (a 9.3 percent increase).

So far this year, the most popular choice remains the 3 Series that was sold in 391,449 units so far this year followed by the 5 Series (309,563 units). The new 4 Series is doing well too with 92,760 cars being delivered to customers so far.

i cars and the first front-wheel drive model to wear the famous roundel didn’t do too bad either. The 2 Series Active Tourer was already sold in 3,011 units while the i3 and i8 added up to 12,944 units (12,184 i3s and 760 i8s).

MINI shows signs of recovering

The MINI brand posted its best October sales ever with a total of 28,834 units sold. Compared to last year, the increase is overwhelming, demand leaping by 53.7 percent. On a year-to-date basis, however, the company is still showing signs of struggle, the total deliveries of 236,363 being down 5.3 percent compared to the first ten months of 2013.

As far as the world regions are concerned, BMW is still recording growth in all parts of the globe. China remains the biggest sole market with a 20.3 percent increase in deliveries compared to the same month of last year and a total of 39,512 units. On a year-to-date basis, the communist country accounts for 537,276 cars so far.

Europe remains the biggest buyer as far as regions go, however. No less than 78,483 cars were sold here in October, up an impressive 11 percent compared to the results recorded in 2013. On a year-to-date basis sales are up by 4.1 percent totaling 741,340 units.
