It seems like the German manufacturer decided to take this new project to a whole new level. According to Automotive News Europe, cars wearing the Zhi Nuo brand might even be exported to mature markets, like the European one.

In a recent interview, Ian Robertson, BMW's Sales Chief denied that the future, cheaper cars will be based on the 3 Series and X1 CUV leaving us to assume that the prospective products will be completely new.

It seems like the collaboration between the two companies will try to take the new brand to a global scale and BMW will provide key, strategic infrastructure needed in order to achive this goal.

"The idea is that global automakers help local firms produce cars good enough to establish a Chinese brand abroad. Local brands have been largely directed at the domestic market. If I were the auto minister for China, I would say, <Well, where are our Hyundai and Kia?>. Out of that [requirement], I’m sure a couple will be successful,” Robertson said.
