Having written an article a while ago, stating that BMW were reconsidering the ‘i’ program? Well, according to insideevs.com, those rumors were (thankfully) false.
The story said that BMW seemed to have changed their mind on the matter, claiming that the underdeveloped charging infrastructure, lack of governmental benefits for ‘green’ drivers in most countries and a general lack of interest from the public are reasons for stopping the ‘i’ program.
We doubted the rumors even as the article was being written, but it couldn’t have been overlooked, taking into consideration the small chance that it could have been true. It wasn’t, and it seems that BMW’s plans are going, well, according to plan.
The first offspring of their ‘i’ program will be the i3 city car, which will be available both as a pure electric and as an extended range hybrid, being followed by the sporty i8, which will be available in 2014, as a coupe and roadster.
