This year, BMW Motorsport will be celebrating a double anniversary. The 2013 MotoGP Championship will be the 15th year with an M car as the "Official Car of MotoGP" and the BMW M Award for best MotoGP qualifier will be handed out for the 10th time.
Just as the contestants in every race receive points depending on their finishes, the M division of BMW awards points for every rider, depending on his qualifying runs. The one that gathers the most pole position standings at the end of the season will be going home with an unique BMW M6 Coupe.

The prize car comes in an exclusive "Frozen Black Metallic" paint job, Matte Black double spoke 20" M light alloy wheels, carbon ceramic brakes, Merino/Sakir Orange leather upholstery and carbon fibre interior trims.

The car was unveiled at Jerez de la Frontera this weekend, when BMW M GmbH officially handed over the 6 cars that will be used in the 2013 MotoGP Championship. These include the M6 Gran Coupe, M6 Coupe and M5 Safety Cars, one M3 Coupe for the Safety Officer and two BMW M550d xDrive Tourings that will be used as Medical Cars.

“For Dorna, BMW M is more than just a partner. We share a friendship and work together as a team. Our collaboration is an incredible experience and we are very happy. The BMW M Award is very important within the MotoGP, as all riders look forward to it," said Carmelo Ezpeleta, CEO of MotoGP promoter Dorna Sports.
