BMW November Sales, Up 11.5 Percent

The road to recovery which began for the automotive industry in September continues, as more and more manufacturers begin posting positive numbers for the month of November. Even if, in November 2008, the crisis began taking its toll and numbers began dropping, the improved results in 2009 show that the industry is on the right path.

In all, BMW posted an 11.5 percent increase in sales, with 11.1 percent coming from BMW, 13.8 percent coming from MINI and a drop of 5.5 percent from battered Rolls Royce.

Since September, sales have been back on the growth track. In November we achieved another substantial increase in our global deliveries. We intend to continue this trend in December,” Ian Robertson, BMW member of the board said in a release.

The BMW brand sold 90,383 units in November, representing, as said, an increase of 11.1 percent. The strongest growth this month came from the Z4, which sold 149.3 percent more units than last year.

MINI managed to keep its good trend on the last months and gained 13.8 percent, reaching 17,199 units sold. Even so, the bad performance from the beginning of the year keeps MINI on the negative side, with a decrease of 8.9 percent.

The worst performer in the BMW line-up, Rolls Royce, continues its decline as the consumer's appeal for luxury items was somewhat tampered by the economic situation. Rolls kept dropping in November, showing a 5.5 percent loss in popularity and bringing the total number of vehicles sold since the beginning of the year to 635.

BMW gained points all over the world, with the same over discussed China leading the way. Here, BMW registered an increase of 33.3 percent, selling 16,030 vehicles. The American markets reported a minor decrease of 1.3 percent.
