BMW Mourns after Death of CFO Dr. Michael Ganal

Due to the severe illness he was suffering from, BMW's former Chief Financial Officer, Dr. Michael Ganal, has died last Thursday night, at 54. Although he has been an employee of the famous auto maker since 1986, being responsible for its Sales and Marketing Division, Dr. Ganal joined the management board in 2000.

Some of his colleagues from the management board have shown their regret concerning the unhappy event. Professor Joachim Milberg, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of BMW AG, expressed his condolences regarding the loss of the former Chief Financial Officer as he was "an outstanding leader and a strong personality". Milberg confessed Dr. Ganal had fought his illness with that same strong will and sheer unflinching energy. Unfortunately, his illness required much more than that..."On behalf of the Supervisory Board and the share-holders of the company I wish to express our deepest, heartfelt sympathy to Dr. Ganal's family" Milberg said.

Dr. Norbert Reithofer, Chairman of the management Board, couldn't miss from the convoy who sent his deepest condolences on behalf of the entire company. "He was a fascinating leader of people and a top executive in the most positive sense of the word" said Reithofer. He added that Dr. Ganal had the uncanny ability of genuinely thrilling and winning over his colleagues and employees through his ideas.

According to the Overall Works Council of BMW AG, Dr. Ganal was a straightforward man who kept firmly on the ground when he was in professional debates and other points of contention.

Also speaking on behalf of the Employees' Representatives, Manfred Schoch, the Chairman of the Overall Works Council of BMW AG, expressed his true condolences: "Through the death of Dr. Ganal we are losing a self-confident and open partner. In all our professional debates and points of contention he always remained absolutely straightforward and firmly on the ground - and even in challenging times he always kept his focus on the concerns and worries of all the employees of the company."

The regrettable death of Dr. Michael Ganal hasn't left the position of Chief Financial Officer unoccupied. His lucky follower is Dr. Friedrich Eichiner who has been recently appointed as the new CFO. Dr. Eichiner's appointment isn't accidental as he has proven his abilities on this position during Dr. Ganal's illness.
