Thailand might not be the first place you’d consider when looking for opening a new production line but BMW officials must be on to something as they just announced the beginning of motorcycle production in the Asian country, in Rayong to be more exact.
For now, the plant will be manufacturing only one model, the BMW F800R and only for the domestic market too but in the future, it might develop into something bigger, the bike ending up being sold on nearby Asian markets, at least.

The new plant will be part of BMW’s worldwide efforts that include another 27 locations in 13 countries, including the automotive plants.

Motorcycle manufacturing is a new thing over in Thailand, as the plant is also making cars in Rayong, such as the MINI Countryman, BMW 3 Series, BMW 5 Series, BMW 7 Series, BMW X1 and BMW X3. In the last year, 6,065 vehicles were made at this plant.
