BMW Motorrad Should Build This Wunderlich R 1600 C Concept

It’s been well over a decade since BMW Motorrad ended the production of its R 1200 C power cruiser. The thing is, these kind of rides are starting to get popular if you look at Ducati’s success with the XDiavel and we’d really love to see its German counterpart sometime in the future. With Wunderlich here already having imagined such a machine, we believe that will come pretty soon.

German based motorcycle accessory maker Wunderlich couldn’t wait any longer for BMW to come up with an R 1200 C successor so the company asked its designer, Nicolas Petit, to give his best and envision how such a model would look like.

He drew inspiration from an older project - the Speed Cruiser - only this time, he got the proportions spot on and created this masterpiece concept named the R 1600 C Vision; a true power cruiser that looks as elegant as it is muscular.

As the name suggests, power comes from a 1,600 cc flat twin engine which should be just enough for both cruising and spirited riding. The front end follows the R 1200 C’s legacy and comes with a telelever style suspension dominated by a retro round headlight.

The fuel tank profile is slim and beautifully arches towards the rear to be reunited with a modern sculpted brown seat. Inspired by the R nineT’s modular rear subframe, the R 1600 C Vision also comes with a removable pillion seat. It can also be folded upwards to create a back support for the rider, just like it was on the original R 1200 C.

In BMW tradition, the power is transmitted to the back via a drive shaft, while stopping power is assured by three massive discs paired with Brembo calipers. The twin exhaust si mounted to one side and is neatly following the bike’s lines while a set of multispoke machined rims complete the bike’s sober and sophisticated look.

The motorcycle looks as authentic as it could be and we really hope BMW Motorrad sees and puts in on the list of future models. Just imagine this combined with all the customization options the R nineT line offers...
