The worldwide sales numbers are coming in from BMW and the first reports were about the Motorrad division that started the year with a more than impressive performance.
On a global scale, the sales went up by 12.9 percent compared to last year, the total number of bikes sold by dealerships around the world rising to 5,438 (4,818 in 2013).

"After achieving an all-time high in 2013, BMW Motorrad has got off to a very successful start in the new year. With an increase of 12.9% as compared to the previous year, this was the best January sales performance in the history of the company,” said Heiner Faust, BMW Motorrad Head of Sales and Marketing.

The future, however, looks even better, with BMW planning to release six new models to the current range including the R1200RT, K1600GTL Exclusive and the R1200GS Adventure.

"We got off to a great start in most markets. There was significant growth in the USA in particular, as well as in the Asian markets. Our new products are in great demand all over the world. In view of this wide range of new products and after a successful start to the year, we are confident as we look ahead to the upcoming motorcycle season," concluded Faust.
