BMW Motorrad has offered us a glimpse of the most exclusive model in its history to date at the EICMA show in Milan. We’re talking about a limited series HP4 RACE machine that is scheduled for next year.
The 2017 BMW HP4 RACE will be an ultra-premium version of the S 1000 RR superbike, coming with a lot of carbon fiber components meant to drastically lower the bike’s weight.

The model presented at EICMA this year is a pre-production prototype and there are no exact details about how many of the components you see here will be carried over on the final model that will reach clients sometime in the second half of next year.

Two things are certain, according to BMW Motorrad President Stephan Schaller: “The HP4 RACE will feature the full carbon fiber main frame and carbon fiber rims as shown here.” He also said that more details about the bike will be revealed next spring.

This makes the HP4 RACE the second production motorcycle to feature such components, along with the recently unveiled Ducati 1299 Superleggera. And another sure detail is that the BMW HP4 RACE will be manufactured by hand in an exclusive limited series.

The prototype shown at Milan also comes with carbon fiber fairings, a performance Akrapovic exhaust, fully adjustable Ohlins FGR forks, Brembo brakes and what looks like an Ohlins TTX shock at the rear.

It’s hard to tell how powerful this black on black beast will be, but, judging by the fact it will have to tackle the Ducati 1299 Superleggera, it should at least match the Italian’s specifications.

In case you forgot, Ducati’s most exclusive superbike weight 167 kg (368.2 lb) wet and its rear wheel is spun by a 1,285 cc Desmodromic L-twin engine that is capable of 215 hp and 146 Nm (108 lb-ft) of torque.
