BMW Motorrad Announces Exceptional Half-Year Figures

It looks like BMW's motorcycle operations are recovering quite well after the past years of decline, as the German group announced their best-ever half-year sales and growth.
BMW Motorrad announced that June 2013 marked a huge increase in sales, and judging how poor things went back in the day, a 22.1% plus in motorcycle sales during the 6th month of the year is not a thing to be easily overlooked. While June 2012 saw 12,271 vehicles delivered, this year's similar figures showed 12,541 units leaving for their new homes.

Overall, the sales surged 9.7% for the first 6 months of the year, to a total of 64,941 motorcycles and scooters sold, compared to the 59,189 units reaching their new owners in the first half of the previous year.

We're still waiting for more detailed data on categories of motorcycles, but we can almost vouch that the new 2013 liquid-cooled BMW R1200GS machinery accounted for the biggest chunk of the group's sales worldwide. We'll be back with more detailed information as it surfaces.
