If you decide to go to your local BMW dealer today and order an i3, you might have it delivered somewhere in September, if you're lucky. According to a recent report, the Germans are making 70 i3 models a day in Leipzig but somehow, it's still not enough as the waiting lists are growing at a much faster rate.
At the Geneva Motor Show, BMW CEO, Dr. Norbert Reithofer, stated that you'd have to be prepared to wait up to six months for an i3 due to the increasing popularity of the model. However, he was careful not to divulge where most of the current productions head off to.

Facing such problems, the management over at BMW will surely have to make amends to make sure people don't change their minds in the mean time. That means they will probably either expand production to other facilities too or they will hire more people and keep the assembly lines running 24/7.

On the other hand, this confirms the huge success i3 is and will become as sales went hugely over the top and broke the highest hopes anyone had. As it turns out, the i sub-brand won't be a total failure after all. Who knew, right?!?
