Not too long ago, we were saying that the BMW Z4 GT3 used in various motorsport events around the world could be replaced soon enough by a similar version of the BMW M6. Today, we’re showing you a couple of speculative renderings of how such a car could look like.
The reasons behind such a move would be complex. The Z4 only recently replaced the M3 that was previously used both as a GT3 and a GTE car both in US race but also everywhere around the world.

With the retirement of the Coupe model in 2014, the Germans had to look for an alternative. In the DTM, things were easy enough as the M4 Coupe stepped in as the E92’s natural successor but BMW wanted to differentiate the market by choosing a different car for US-bound competitions.

Therefore, in the USCC and its predecessor TUDOR series, the Z4 was chosen as a replacement. The GTLM cars used by Bobby Rahal’s teams were converted in a variety of shapes to be compliant with GT3 and GTE races.

Now, since BMW wants to follow the same strategy further on, a replacement has to be found for the Z4 that will go out of production in 2017. The rumors suggest it’s going to be the M6, even though it’s a bit on the heavy side.

No matter though, a conversion could be made and the rendering below show us exactly how it could look like. Sure, they are just speculations but things are looking good nonetheless. The M6 was (and still is) used by Alpina as a GT3 car. Admittedly, it’s the older E63 version but it shows us that it’s possible.
