BMW M6 Gran Coupe First Drive by Top Gear

The latest M car from BMW is currently making a name for itself by leaving all kinds of journalists with their mouths open and gasping for air. We expected most of them to provide positive feedback, but what about Top Gear?

The British publication is known for its extremely bias test drives and severe judgments on cars that are otherwise pretty good. We were actually afraid that they were going to say that the new M6 Gran Coupe is just a smaller, less practical M5 and that it's not worth to spend the extra money on it.

However, things went rather different. Even they had to admit that the M6 GC is a car of its own. Even though it shares the engine and chassis of the M5, it looks a lot better, it has a lot of extra features that actually justify buying it.

The 560 HP and 680 Nm (501 lb-ft) of torque sent to the rear axle through the 7-speed automatic gearbox make this coupe extremely fast on any kind of road, not just highways, as you might be tempted to think.

Furthermore, the rear wheels are never out of control, even in the tightest situations. The car is controllable at any speed and in any corner. Of course, if you want to go nuts, all you have to do is disengage the traction control and all hell will break lose.

Bottom line, they said that: "expensive and odd the M6 GC may be, but it's a winner: certainly our favorite of BMW's big M cars and one of the finest fast Germans on sale". That says it all. BMW has done it again!
