The BMW 6 Series entered a new era this year along with the introduction of the third model in its line-up. The Gran Coupe is a rather peculiar car. It's definitely not a classic 6er and not a 5er either. So, what is it after all?
Greg Kable from Autocar tested the powerful M6 Gran Coupe in Germany and came up with some interesting inside facts about the new Bimmer.

It simply does what it's supposed to do. It's no surprise that BMW launched this car to compete with the Mercedes-Benz CLS 63 AMG and this is exactly its purpose. If some people just expected it to be a 5er with a modified shape, they're in for a surprise.

The M6 GC is a stand-alone car. It's more comfortable than the M5 and looks better. Even though some may argue that for an M car, the Gran Coupe is too comfortable, especially when compared to the 5er, we think that's the whole point.

This car car be a Gread Tourismo car when needed, keeping you in absolute comfort and can turn into an incredible beast at the push of a button (the one that says Sport+ ).

It's steering is more agile that you could've imagined and the whole car just feels like a formidable high-speed cruiser when taken to the limit. The chassis is fluent in its actions and the throttle response could make a Lamborghini jealous.

Overall, this car is destined for a certain niche. Will it be successful? Only time and the competition with Mercedes-Benz's CLS63 AMG will tell.
