BMW M6, Camaro Z/28 and GT-R Burn Some Serious Rubber on the Top Gear Track

Since the brand new Camaro Z/28 is currently being introduced in the UK, the guys from Top Gear decided to take it for a spin across their world famous track to introduce it to the public, the right way.

In this regard they got The Stig to step behind the wheel of the new Chevy to show us how it’s supposed to be driven and even hooned around a proper circuit, in the safest environment, of course.

But for such purposes, the Camaro couldn’t be driven all alone, he needed a couple of other seriously powerful cars to play around with. That’s when a BMW M6 Competition Package showed up alongside the Bogeyman of supercars, the Nissan GT-R.

Since the Japanese is all-wheel-drive and has way too many electronic traction control systems on board, hooning it like the rear-wheel-drive models shown here wasn’t really possible. Not a problem though, as we got to see plenty of smoke coming out from under the wheel arches of the Bimmer and Chevy.

Understandable considering what is powering them. The BMW has a 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine under the bonnet making (in this application) 575 HP and 680 Nm (501 lb-ft) of torque. It may weight nearly 2 tons but it’s a more than fast car.

The muscle car comes fitted with an even bigger plant, a 7-liter naturally aspirated V8 making 507-hp (US hp) and 637 Nm (470 lb-ft) of torque but it was tuned for the race track, featuring a new multi-link suspension, advanced electronics, better aerodynamics and Brembo brakes amongst others.

A drag race was also at hand, as you probably guessed, and from the looks of things, the GT-R clearly won, the BMW came in second and the Camaro last. No matter though, we still like them all.
