Until the automotive industry will provide us with braking systems that really make your faces hurt, it’s safe to say that you can never have enough braking force. BMW is well aware of this and is working on a carbon-ceramic braking system for its latest toy, the F10 M5.
Dr. Herbert Diess, Member of the Board of Management of BMW has confirmed for bimmerfile that the M division is currently with its brake supplier Brembo to develop carbon-ceramic stopping power for the M5. It seems that the carbon-ceramic brakes pack will be released in about one year, which will coincide with the M5’s US launch.
This means that the now-testing M6 will also get the fresh goodies and as for the financial part of the deal, since these kind of tech bits are extremely expensive to acquire and maintain and would bring a significant price increase, we expect them to be an optional feature.
