BMW’s M Division is currently developing the next generation of the M5, but that did not stop it from working on a special edition of the ongoing model, the F10 M5.
Say hello to the new BMW M5 Competition Edition, a limited production version of the German sedan. BMW will only make 200 of these, and each comes standard with an M Dual-Clutch Transmission with Drivelogic.

BMW says that an M5 Competition Edition can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.9 seconds. Fuel economy in the standard European mixed NEDC cycle is rated at 9.9 liters/100 kilometers (23.8 mpg), while combined CO2 emissions are rated at 231 grams/kilometer.

BMW’s latest M5 special edition is one of the most powerful production vehicles ever made by the automaker. We must note that this is not the first 600 HP M5 ever made by BMW, as the brand provided the same configuration in 2014, when the M5 celebrated its 30th Anniversary.

Both feature a 4.4-liter V8 Twin Power Turbo engine with 40 HP and 20 Nm on top of the standard configuration, and add up to 600 HP and 700 Nm (516 lb-Ft).

The previous limited edition of the M5 provided the same acceleration, power, torque, and fuel economy figures, but was made in 300 units. You do not have to be a math genius to observe that the M5 Competition Edition will be made in 100 units less than the “30 Jahre M5 Special Edition,” but you will need at least 129,500 Euros to buy one in Germany.

Since the limited-edition model is called Competition, it would have been a shame if BMW would not have fitted the “Competition Package” to this limited edition. You should not be confused about the same name being used for the limited edition and a special package.

In the case of the latter, it means firmer springs and dampers, a lower ride height, specific settings for the Active M differential, and an additional control map for the M Servotronic steering system, as does the M Dynamic Mode of the Dynamic Stability Control. It can be ordered with the optional M carbon-ceramic brake system.

On the outside, the BMW M5 Competition Edition comes with exclusive body colors - 100 cars will be Carbon Black metallic, while the other hundred will be painted “Mineral White metallic.”

Customers cannot select anything else, and these colors are matched with 20-inch forged and polished double-spoke M alloy wheels with “Jet Black” finish and mixed tires.

Other distinctive elements include carbon parts for the rear diffuser, trunk lid gurney, and mirror caps, while the front grille and side grills are painted gloss black, while the latter has “M5 Competition” lettering on it.

Once inside, occupants will notice an elegant combination of Merino Black Leather with Opal White contrast stitching. Floor mats are finished in Anthracite, but have leather bordering in Opal White. The headrests of the front multifunctional M sports seats bear “///M5” embroidered in white.

If the sound of the V8 is not enough, a 1,200-watt Bang&Olufsen sound system should do the trick. Each vehicle has a unique numbered plaque inside to show it belongs to this limited series.
