Races between cars and bikes usually don’t go to well for our preferred means of transportation. That’s because of physics and her stupid rules. However, we can still make such a race interesting enough if we’re not looking only at the numbers.
One such race (or maybe we should call it challenge) was filmed by the guys from BMW Australia featuring a brand new M5 Competition Package and a BMW HP4 bike.

Of course, the reigns of the vehicles couldn’t have been handed over to just anybody. Le Mans champion, Geoff Brabham and Australia Superbike champion, Glenn Allerton were in the hot seats, around Phillip Island’s Grand Prix Circuit.

We know we said the numbers game should be left behind but a part of us just can’t do it so here it goes:

- the M5 Competition Package has a 4.4-liter V8 twin-turbo engine under the bonnet, making 575 HP and 680 Nm (501 lb-ft) of torque pushing 1,945 kg (4,287 lbs) to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.2 seconds
- the HP4 bike has a 4-cylinder 1-liter engine making 193 HP and 112 Nm (83 lb-ft) of torque that’s capable of sending the bike up to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 2.9 seconds.

As far as we could figure out, the race wasn’t over by the time the video was done and things are about to go into overdrive pretty soon. After challenging each other to do more and more difficult tasks the guys are probably preparing for the ultimate challenge. Check it out!
