BMW M5 30 Jahre Edition Spotted in Belgium

One of the maddest cars BMW ever made was released just last year. At the time of its unveiling, it was the fastest and most powerful car they ever built. Unfortunately, it was just a limited-run model that celebrated the 30th anniversary of the M5.

That’s right, we’re talking about the 30 Jahre BMW M5 edition, a car built in just 300 units worldwide. With such production numbers, seeing one in the metal is an extremely rare occasion.

This time, we’re looking at one spotted in Belgium and, by the flies stuck in the front bumper and kidney grilles we can tell that it must’ve been traveling at high velocity for some time before being caught on camera.

And high velocities are what this thing is all about. Under the bonnet lies a reworked version of the 4.4-liter V8 twin-turbo mill from the standard M5 that makes 600 HP and 700 Nm (516 lb-ft) of torque. As we said, at the time of its unveiling it was the most powerful model BMW ever made.

However, in the meantime things have changed, the Germans launching a new Competition Package for the M6 line-up that takes the Coupe, Convertible and Gran Coupe models to the same heights.

Acceleration of the limited-run Bimmer to 100 km/h (62 mph) takes 3.9 seconds, and it will go up to a limited top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph) in no time. That also used to be the fastest time in the history of BMW’s car making days.

Prices for such a rare model are not only high but nearly non-existent. Let me explain. These things will become collectables in the future so whoever got his/her hands on one will probably be more than reluctant to part ways with it.

One of them was sold at a charity auction in January for $700,000, and the only other one we found for sale later on was posted for $325,000. Now that’s some serious money...
