BMW M5 30 Jahre Anniversary Model Vs. Mercedes-AMG GT S Acceleration Comparison – Video

The market of uber-sedans as we like to call them is currently populated by some rather incredible creations. The usual suspects are involved here: the BMW M5, Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG and the Audi RS6 Avant (even though the last one isn't a sedan per say).

These three have the performance that was usually reserved for two seaters in a mid-size sedan guise that can take four people and their luggage out for lengthy spins without an issue.

It is rather incredible how much technology is infused in these cars and the amazing outputs they have are a testimony to how much things advanced over the years. That being said, the video below shows just how you could take your wife and two kids on a holiday and keep up with a proper supercar on the highway.

The acceleration comparison video posted is of two iconic models. On the one hand, we have a special edition BMW M5, the most powerful car the Germans made until the new X5 and X6 M versions were revealed. We’re talking about the 30th Anniversary version of the sedan that was gifted with some rather unique features as well as a 600 HP engine that makes is a terribly fast rear-wheel drive car.

In standard guise, the car would accelerate to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.9 seconds also making it the fastest BMW ever built. The clip included in this article certainly does seem to confirm these claims.

On the other hand, we have a Mercedes-AMG GT S, a two-seater supercar with a twin-turbo 4-liter V8 engine good for 510 HP. This one is also rear-wheel drive but thanks to its lower weight (by at least 200 kilos or 440 lbs) it accelerates to the benchmark speed of 62 mph 0.1 seconds faster.

Either way, this is a more than exciting race and a showcase of the potency of mid-size sedans these days.
