BMW M4 Looking Good at Gas Station: Rendering

High performance cars and gas stations usually go hand in hand. However, BMW has always tried to make the M3 a little bit more frugal every time they renew it. When the E92 came in 2007 to replace the E46, its V8 engine was announced to have better fuel economy than the smaller straight-six used by its predecessor.
Now though, they're going back to straight-six setups but have probably reduced fuel consumption by another 10-15% or so. The brand new M4 will use the S55 3-liter engine which likely combines twin-across turbos and an electrically driven third turbo to improve low-end torque, which in turn makes the car more frugal.

But let's not kid ourselves, you're still going to stop for fuel after a "bazai" run on the autobahn or the Nurburging. And that's where your will be the center of attention. This rendering created by Wild Speed shows just how good the new M4 Coupe will look while you're out there, pumping gas. This sort of sight will certainly draw in the crowds – after all, this is a brand new Bimmer.

We've talked at length about how the new M4 will have about the same power, 422 PS, as the current M3, but slightly more torque and a much lighter body. But its rivals aren't taking things lying down, and the next Mercedes C63 AMG will also have a brand new engine, rumored to be a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 producing at least 450 PS.
